Stanley Rangers ARLFC were presented with their Sport England Clubmark certificate by Mr Philip Hindle, Chairman of the Rugby Football League, at the GMB National Cup Final at Blackpool on Saturday May 28th, 2005.

Clubmark is an accreditation scheme run by Sport England which aims to set the standards for quality sports clubs in England. To achieve this, clubs have to show that they have high standards of child protection and safety, quality coaching, equal opportunities and good management.

Nearly a 1000 sports clubs in England have achieved Clubmark and at present there are 57 rugby league clubs (including 4 Super League Clubs) who have gained the Clubmark in Yorkshire.

Sport England, (along with The Rugby Football League and the County Sports Partnerships) is seeking assist in the development of standards of clubs working with children and young people. Sport England Clubmark sets generic criteria for national governing bodies of sport to accredit their clubs against. The RFL and BARLA have in turn been responsible for developing and setting sports specific standards and accrediting clubs against the national framework.

Sport England Clubmark has been promoted initially through the Active Sports programme. The County Sports Partnerships that are currently implementing Active Sports support the scheme locally. They provide clubs with access to sports development professionals, workshops and other resources.

Rugby League clubs that gain accreditation will receive recognition and promotion by Sport England, The RFL, County Sports Partnerships and Local Authorities.
