| Normanton Knights U12s 0 v Stanley Rangers U12s 54 Unison Junior Finals
 23.05.09
Stanley Rangers finished their season off in tremendous fashion with a superb crushing defeat of Normanton Knights 54 points to nil in the Final of the Unison Junior Finals. The Normanton side looked a full age group above us with their massive size, but as we all know size is not everything with the Rangers producing an almost faultless performance in attack and a perfect performance in defence.   The Rangers looked very relaxed and worked every play off the back of some solid go foward, and this enables all our strike players to run riot.    Jonny Holmes and Callum Sampson again proved to be more than a match up front for their huge opposite numbers, and with Ben Cornell's distribution from dummy half we looked unstopable.   Back rowers Matty English and Tyler Lockwood stood up tall today and defended around the ruck area with some ferocity.    Keiran Holt again looked dangerous every time he carried the ball, and proved yet again he is the number 1 running back rower anywhere.   Daniel Sowerby produced a masterclass performance to finish the season, and had a major hand in 10 tries scored, a remarkable amount of plays. Daniel was rewarded with the Man of the Match award selected by Ben Thaler the Super League referee.    Jacob Ware was imense and scored 5 tries out wide, showing a clean pair of heels to every other player on the field. The scores were all great to watch with other players either creating the scores or tipping off for the big lad to scorch away, a fine way to end the season for the best outside back in this age group.   Dom Jones was asked to play at 6 and did so with ease, his effort did not go unnoticed, and he proved that his ability level is remarkable when he gives his best. Dom also put on the shot of the season today when he smashed the Normanton prop in two at the end of the first half, and I do mean smash - it was painful to watch.   Normanton tried their best, but on the day were well beaten in every department of the game. Max Joitt showed his class out wide and in the kicking department, and the back line was fully suported with Danny Johnson, Alex Hobson, and Callum Upton. The support from the bench was also good with Sam Walker, Grub and Alex Keaney all doing their part in defence and attack.   Callum Sampson on the day led by example, and i was very happy to see him lift this the first trophy of the season.    I would also like to pass on my thanks to all the players, parents, officials, Jean for the web site, and my fellow coaches, James Brown, Mark Holmes, Tony English, Gary Walker, and Roy Sampson.
