This game was one of the best played at Normanton so far out of the four played in the CMS Yorkshire League Cup composition. Both teams where ready for action .Panthers got off the mark first when Carl Everitt crossed under the post after 5 minutes Jonathan Carter converted 6-0. It was 25 minutes later before the next score which was again for Panthers - this time No 7, and Man of the Match, John Brummitt scored the first of four tries which was again converted by Carter 12-0.

With 10 minutes remaining in the first half Stanley finally woke up and scored three tries which were all converted by Johnny Karadzic. First Darrel Gaunt went under the sticks - making the score 12-6 Chris Higgs was next to cross the whitewash and goaled - 12-12.Just before the whistle for half- time Luke Moffat went in under the posts. Again the try was converted by Karadzic 12-18.

The second half got under way when John Brummitt raced in under the sticks for his second try, Carter converted to make the score 18-18. On 50 minutes Craig Smith went in for Panthers, followed a minute later by Brummitt with his third, both converted by Carter. The score was now 30-18 to Panthers. Stanley's last score saw Christian Carney go under the sticks for a good try, goaled by Karadzic - 30-24. The final two tries went to Panthers on 65 and 70 minutes when Richard Henbert scored first on 65 minutes and Brummitt went in for his fourth on 70 minutes, both
converted by Carter, to end a great game at 42-24 to Castleford Panthers.
