Eccles & Salford Juniors 14 v Stanley Rangers 4

Stanley Rangers survived a late fightback from Eccles to pick up the two points and keep up their promotion challenge in Division Two.
A try from John Nunns gave Stanley a good start but Eccles played some strong rugby to take a 16-4 lead at half time with tries from Paul Morgan, Lee Salisbury (2) and conversions by Mike Davies.
Straight after the interval a Richard Cattley try, goaled by Gareth Whitehead, began to close the gap. Eccles kept up the pressure until the 70th minute when Danny Gaunt created a gap for David Brown to score a try, converted by Whitehead to level the scores. Within two minutes, Barry Maxwell scored again and Whitehead's conversion moved Stanley ahead. Two penalties from Whitehead completed Stanley's score but a late try and goal from Eccle's Adam Taher put the game in contention until the end.
