Dewsbury Celtic U9s v Stanley Rangers U9s
17.10.10
The Under 9's travelled away to Dewsbury Celtic on the 17th October.
The team started brightly and were led well in defence by Brandon Marsh and Adam Milner. A superb break by Cayan led to a full length try which left four defenders on the floor after his straight running. Joe Burton was next on the scoresheet after some great off loads from brother Oli, Tommy Gibbs and 'big' Brandon. The opposition coach stated he had not seen under 9's that can off load so well. Joe scored with a swan dive! Celtic responded just before half time with a big drive from their large prop who took several defenders with him.
After half time came the Magic Moment, Adam Padgett rushed from defence and into the face of the oncoming charge causing the largest player to run the other way. Eventually, Celtic went back to straight running with their bigger boys starting to make inroads and scoring back to back. Riley Thompson in only his second game put some strong runs in ably assisted by Alfie and the Coaches Man of Match , Brandon Marsh. By now the boys were playing catch up and playing the better passing rugby but the tight pitch did not assist their pace and style of game. The final word came to Oliver Burton who scooted across the line outpacing the defence in the last act of the game.
