Stanley secured their first piece of winning silverware with a
comprehensive performance against the Knights at Sharlston Rovers
			  ARLFC ground.

The game started with Stanley playing downhill and receiving
the kick off, they made the perfect start to the game after some
strong runs took Stanley well into the oppositions half, from here
they moved the ball out to the left for Finlay Tate to go
over. Conversion missed 4 - 0. From the kick off Stanley again
worked their way forward and on the 3rd tackle Riley Britton hit
the ball up hard, sat his opposite number on his backside then
raced away to score under the posts. Try converted by Josh
Chapman. 10 - 0. At this point Stanley’s confidence was high but
their concentration dropped and they came up with a string of
errors early in the tackle count for the next few sets with the
			  ball.

To their credit they stayed positive and responded in the
right way defensively and they held firm on their own line to keep
Normy out. This seemed to raise Stanley’s spirits and service was
resumed once Stanley started controlling the ball again. Riley
Britton got the score board ticking over again as he broke through
the middle of Normy's defence to run to the try line and
score. Conversion missed. 14 - 0.Stanley’s next score came from
James Astin who took an early pass from a scrum in the oppositions
half to split the line and go in at the side of the posts. Try
			  converted by George  Britton. H.T. 20 - 0.

The second half saw Normanton up their performance and they
held Stanley for the first few sets but Stanley’s dominance in
defence and strong go forward in attack gradually started to wear
them down and again it was Riley Britton who broke their
resistance as he crashed through again with another of his
blockbuster runs to complete his hat-trick. Try converted by Josh
Chapman. 26 - Stanley’s next score saw some good rugby considering
the conditions as they created space for James Astin and he raced
away to score near the posts. Try converted by Zack Leaworthy. 32
			  - 0. Astin completed his hat-trick as Stanley used the short side
to good effect to create the over lap, putting him in for a score
out on the left. Conversion missed. 36 - 0. The final score of the
game came after Stanley’s dominant defence again forced Normy into
an error, Lewis Spivey was first to react collecting the ball and
setting off on a run to the line, beating numerous players on his
way. Try converted by George Britton. Final score 42 - 0.

All the players played their part in a great team performance
and they did the club proud. Captain Riley Britton led from the
front and rightly deserved to be awarded the official Man of the
Match award for his block buster performance. All the players and
coaches would like to take the opportunity to thank all parents
and supporters for coming and cheering the team on in miserable
			  conditions.
