New Years Eve Party 2019Due to unforseen circumstances the New Years Eve party at the clubhouse has now had to be cancelled.

New Year's Eve party at the clubhouse will be are fun family event to bring in the New Year. Tickets are £5 for adults and kids are free. There will be a family disco and karaoke. For more information contact Shaun Hadgson (U15s coach) on 07818 025100. There will be a pie and pea supper for adults and hot dogs for kids. Lots of fun so come along and enjoy yourselves!
NOVEMBER
BARLA YOUTH AND JUNIOR CUPS RESULTS

The BARLA Yorkshire Cup 1st round games were played last weekend on the 17th November and our teams were involved. The Under 14s playing in the BARLA U15s draw were beaten by Stanningley U15s 54-0 in the 1st round; the Under 15s playing in the U16s draw were beaten 18-0 by Hull Dockers U16s.

Stanley Rangers ARLFC AGMStanley Rangers ARLFC will be holding their Annual General Meeting at the clubhouse on December 10th 2019 at 7.00pm. The roles that will be up for election are the Rugby Chairperson, Rugby Secretary, Rugby Disciplinary Chair and Rugby Child Welfare Officer. Applications are welcome from paid members for the 2020 season and for  applications and enquiries email Sarah Trout at strout66@sky.com. The deadline for applications is November 26th at 9pm..
NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY

New Years Eve PartyA date for your diary - the club will be holding a New Year's Eve Party at the clubhouse on the 31st December from 7pm til late. There will be a family disco and karaoke. This is going to be a great family night out to celebrate bringing in the New Year with family and friends.

This Sunday - 17th November - the Under 16s will be playing in Round One of the BARLA Yorkshire Under 16s Cup against Hull Dockers at home. and the Under 15s are playing at home against Stanningley U15s in the Under 15s Cup and the Under 13s will be away at Lock Lane in the Under 13s Cup. Good luck to all our teams this weekend!
BARLA YORKSHIRE CUP DRAW

BARLA The 1st round draw for the BARLA Yorkshire Cup has now been made and Stanley Rangers youth and junior teams  are involved. Clubs are taken from West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Hull.

The Under 12s, playing in the U13s category, beat Whinmoor U13s 84-0 in the Preliminary Round,  and have now been drawn in Round 1 on 17 November v Lock Lane (A). Also on the 17th November, the U15s v Stanningley U15s (H) Round 1 and U16s v Hull Dockers (H) Round 1. Kick off times to be announced.

BARLA teams play a season up and so the U13  and the u14 age groups will play as U14  and  U15 this season for Yorkshire Juniors and the U15s will play as Under 16s..
GREAT HALF TERM FUN AT STANLEY

There was plenty of fun and games at Stanley Rangers at half term beginning with a fun-filled Hallowe'en party at the clubhouse on Saturday 26th October. Then during the following week ;there was a fantastic rugby camp with Rugby AM Elite Kids camp on Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st October at the club. Many thanks for all their hard work and enthusiasm.

Although the junior teams have finished their seasons, the Under 12s are completing theirs. On Saturday the Under 12s played against the top team in the table - Stanningley - and lost by 38-4. On Saturday 2nd November their last fixture will be away at West Bowling. currently lying one place higher than them in Divsion One.
RUGBY SKILLS CAMP RETURNS TO STANLEY

Rugby CampAfter the success of the summer camp, Stanley Rangers are pleased to welcome back Rugby AM Elite Kids Camp for two days of coaching on Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st October, from 10am to 3pm. There will be professional coaches who will teach rugby skills with fun and games. The cost is £18 per day or £32 for two days. The camp is aimed at 5-12 years. This is a great way for children to enjoy themselves in the half term holidays.

HALF TERM FUN BEGINS TONIGHT

Halloween PartyHalf term has begun and what better way to start the holiday by coming along to the club tonight for a great family night of fun! There will be fun and games with apple bobbing,  the mummy game, trick or treat and more, with prizes for fancy dress. Entry is free and you only need a ticket from Zara Battle (Under 9s team manager). Food i- pie and peas and hot dogs - s just £1 for children and £2 for adults. The evenng starts at 6pm so come on down and have a fun night out.

HALLOWEEN PARTY AT THE CLUB

Halloween PartyThere'll be fun for all the family at the Halloween Party at the clubhouse on October 26th at 6pm.  Games, music and food will be available and prizes for the best fancy dress. Halloween fun for all our age groups. Food will be available - pie and peas and hotdogs - £2 for adults and £1 for children under 18.
It's free entry but you will need a ticket to get in and if you would like food you can buy a ticket for that beforehand (all helps with catering).
There will be prizes for the fancy dress so come on, get your best ghoulish outfit on and come to the club on the 26th October for a great family night out! Tickets are available from Zara Battle, Under 9s team manager.

This week Stanley Rangers website received some great photos and memories from ex-Rangers player Jeff Tennant who played in the 1970s and went on to play for Bramley and also about his father Norman who played for Stanley Rangers in the 1950s. Centenary GameThe sun shone last Saturday afternoon as Stanley Rangers celebrated their centenary with a match between Stanley Rangers and Rugby League all stars. Present at the match were Paul Sculthorpe, Adrian Morley, Lee Radford, Kirk Yeaman, Dean Sampson and Darren Rogers. A brilliant afternoon for everyone. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen.

Stanley Rangers ARLFC clubhouseToday's the day! This afternoon Stanley Rangers celebrates 100 years as a club with a special centenary game of the Stanley Rangers past players versus the Rugby League All Stars. Kick off is at 2.30pm and this promises to be a special occasion for the club and all its players, coaches families, supporters and friends. In Stanley, rugby league has been played since 1919, when the original name of the club was Stanley Nibs. The headquarters were at the Wagons and Horses pub and then the club moved to the Miners' Arms at Lee Moor in 1964. When the Miners' Arms was closed by the brewery, the rugby club was offered similar facilities at the Ship Inn across the road from the Miners' Arms. For more information about the history of our club and to enjoy some team photos taken over the years go to our History page. Stanley Rangers Centenary Game Our Centenary Celebration Game is only a few days away and it promises to be a fantastic event! On Saturday 7th September, we will be holding a game between Stanley Rangers Past Players and Rugby League All Stars. Admission is only £2 for adults, children are free and this will include a programme. There will be fun and games for children and all the funds raised will be shared between the Life for a Kid foundation and Stanley Rangers ARLFC. Huge tanks to everyone involved in organising what is going to be a terrific event, especially Paul, Zara, Dan and Chris.

Come along and support our great club which has been running for 100 years this year and has been the source of many professional rugby league players and coaches.

Centenary Match
To celebrate our centenary year, Stanley Rangers are holding a fantastic game between past players and rugby league all stars on Saturday 7th September, kick off at 2.30pm. Admission is £2 for adults, children are free and this includes a programme. There will be fun and games for the children, with stalls and inflatables.
Join us on Saturday the 7th of September from 2pm, for what is guaranteed to be an amazing afternoon of Rugby With our very own Stanley Rangers Legends V’s All Star legends game. All money raised will be donated to Life For a Kid Foundation and Stanley Rangers ARLFC .

UNDER 12S COME OUT TOPS AT FESTIVAL OF RUGBY

Under 12s at the Festival of RugbyStanley Rangers Under 12s had a terrific day earlier this month at the Naturally Best Club Ambassadors Festival of Rugby with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation! A big thank you to Sam Horner and all the team for putting on another great tournament, and a massive well done to Hunslet Warriors ARLFC for hosting the event. The boys did the club proud!

A massive thank you to the AM Elite Kids Rugby Skills for an incredible couple of days at Stanley Rangers. A big shout out to the coaches - the kids have given you some amazing feedback and have enjoyed the sessions. Also a big "thank you" to Cas Tigers Adam Milner who took the time to come down and give the kids a Q and A session. Here's to more camps next year!

KYLE MOVES TO SUPER LEAGUE

Kyle TroutEx-Stanley Rangers player Kyle Trout has moved from Championship side Dewsbury Rams to Hull Kingston Rovers for the remainder of the 2019 Super League season. Said Kyle "I'm really excited to get another crack at Super League. I've had a few years in the wilderness now so it's great to be back. I have the opportunity now and it's up to me to take it. I want to prove some things to myself as well as everybody else, that I am good enough for this level". The 28-year-old loose-forward will be eligible for the final five games of Rovers' Super League campaign. Trout spent three years with Wakefield from 2012 and he played 25 times for the club.

AMRugby Camp A two-day rugby camp is coming to Stanley Rangers  next week on Wednesday 30th July to Thursday 1st August. AM Elite Kids Rugby Skills Camp will be at the Lee Moor ground between 10.00am and 3.00pm and is suitable for kids age 5-12 years. The cost is £17.50 for 1 day and £30.00 for two days. This is a great opportunity for our kids to enjoy fun and games, learn new rugby skills and make friends coached by professionals. Children will need water bottles, a packed lunch and lots of energy! GOOD WIN FOR THE UNDER 12s

Stanley Rangers U12s 2019Well done to our Under 12s who had a good win at the weekend over Dewsbury Celtic 12-6 in their last game before the summer break. This result has kept them in 2nd place in the Under 12s Division One table. After summer, their next match will be on September 21st against Newsome Panthers.
GOOD RESULT FOR THE UNDER 18s

Stanley Rangers under 18sThe Under 18s continue their good run of results with a hard fought win over the Headingley Hawks U18s at the weekend coming out 18-24. They came up against an organised defence but stuck out for a close win. The team are now in 3rd place in the U18s Tier 3 table.

Well done to the Under 18s who are only in their first season together but are having good results in the U18s Tier 3 and Development division. On the 7th July they beat Sheffield Hawks 50-12 away from home, placing them in third place in the table.

This weekend, on Saturday 13th July, the Under 10s are at home to Thornhill Trojans, the Under 13s are at home against Ovenden and  the Under 12s are away at Hunslet Club Parkside. On Sunday the 14th, the Under 18s travel to Headingley Hawks, the Under 15s are at home against Slaithwaite Saracens, the Under 14s are also at home against Doncaster Toll Bar, the Under 9s travel to York Acorn, the Under 8s will be at home to Heworth and the Under 7s will travel to Ovenden. A busy weekend for all our teams.

Elite Kids Rugby AM Summer CampsBookings for the Summer Rugby Camps at Stanley Rangers are now live. Rugby AM Camps will be holding a two day camp this summer at Stanley Rangers, from Wednesday 31st July to Thursday 1st August 10.00am to 3.00pm.  The cost is £17.50 per day or both days for £30.  As the website says, the camps are run by Rugby AM in partnership with Elite Kids Coaching and there will be two days of rugby league activities and fun with coaching by professionals. Children will need a packed lunch and a water bottle. See the link for more details and the booking form.

UNDER 15s IN WAKEFIELD DISTRICT CUP  MATCH ON WEDNESDAY

Under 15s cup finalStanley Rangers Under 15s will be taking on the Methley Warriors U15s in the semi final of the  Wakefield District Cup on Wednesday evening - 3rd July - at Stanley Sports and Social Club, Lee Moor. Kick off is at 6.45pm and gate entry is £3 for adults and £1 for kids. This is a great chance to see our Under 15s in action on our home ground so come along and give the boys your support!

The Under 18s are continuing to be successful with a 50-18 win over Hull All Blacks at the weekend, keeping  them in third place in the U18s Tier 3 table. The U15s had a close 26-22 win over King Cross Park and remain at the top of U15s Division 4 and Devt table. The U14s played a friendly against higher league Heworth last weekend and have a home fixture against East Leeds on Sunday (7th). The U13s didn't play last weekend and are at home to Illingworth on Saturday (6th). The U12s will be playing on 13th away at Hunslet Club Parkside.
On Saturday 6th, the Under 11s are at home to Sheffield Hawks and  the U10s are away at Crigglestone All Blacks. On Sunday 7th July, the U9s are at home against Eastmoor Dragons, the U8s are away at Bramley and the U7s will be home against Boothtown Terriers.

Stanley Rangers Under 18s 2019Well done to our Under 18s team who only formed this season and  had their first win on Sunday against Wyke coming out 22-16 winners. The Under 15s had a resounding 50-0 win over Fryston Warriors keeping them at the top of Divison Four. The Under 14s beat Thornhill Trojans 24-18 keeping them in third place in their division. The U13s lost out to Greetland All Rounders 18-30 and our Under 12s brought home the silverware to Stanley Rangers last Wednesday when they won the U12s Wakefield Cup beating Normanton Knights. Great results from all our teams and coaches.

Rangers U12s Wakefield Cup FinalIn an impressive performance in awful conditions, Stanley Rangers U12s came away decisive winners of the U12s Wakefield Cup 42-0. Tries came from Finlay Tate, Riley Britton (3), James Astin (3) and Lewis Spivey, with goals kicked by Josh Chapman (2), George Britton (2) and Zack Leaworthy. The team did the club proud to win their first piece of silverware. Congratulations to the team, their coaches and to the parents and supporters!

Wakefield Cup Final posterOur Under 12s team are in the Final of the Wakefield District Cup, facing Normanton Knights U12s on Wednesday 12th June at Sharlston Rovers ARLFC ground (128 Weeland Rd, Sharlston Common, Wakefield WF4 1DD). The match kicks off at 6.15pm and the Under 13s Final will be between Eastmoor Dragons and Normanton Knights at 7.15pm. Please come along and give the Under 12s your support.

Our Under 7s, 8s and 9s  were part of a huge Wakefield Trinity Community event last night at the Wakefield Trinity v Leeds Rhinos match. Trinity's community clubs and schools were present to play before the game and despite the rain, our teams had a briliiant time and played well with great team work. (See the photos below) Well done!

MIXED RESULTS FOR OUR TEAMS

The weekend our teams had mixed results in their games. The Under 18s playing only their second game lost out at Wyke 24-10; the Under 15s lost at Wetherby Bulldogs 20-10; the Under 14s also lost ot at Farnley Falcons 24-16. The Under 13s lost to Sharlston Rovers 46-10 and the Under 12s had a good home win against Newsome Panthers 24-6, keeping them joint top of Division One.
This coming weekend, on Saturday 8th June, the Under 10s go to Queensbury for a Group 4 fixture and the Under 12s travel to Dewsbury Celtic. Then on Sunday 9th June, the Under 18s are at home against Dewsbury Celtic and the Under 14s are at home to Kippax Welfare.

AFter the Bank Holiday weekend our teams are back in action for the first weekend in June.  On Saturday 1st June, the Under 13s are at home at 10.30am in a real derby game against Sharlston Rovers at Rangers Park, the Under 12s are at home to Newsome Panthers at the Rangers Park with a 12.30 kick off. our Under 10s are playing against Keighley All Blacks at home at the St Peters School pitch at 10.30am and the Under 11s will also play at the St Peters School pitch in a home fixture against York Acorn at 11.30am On Sunday 2nd June, the Under 15s travel to Wetherby Bulldogs, the Under 14s are also away at Farnley Falcons and the Under 8s will be away at Doncaster Toll Bar. Four home games on Saturday so please come along and give our teams your support!

It's been a busy time for our teams with the new Under 18s playing their first match in the Under 18s Tier 3 against Sheffield Hawks narrowly losing by 16-18. The Under 15s beat Brighouse Rangers 22-16 and in a mid-week match beat Featherstone Lions 34-8 keeping them at the top of U15s Division 4 & Development.  The Under 13s lost out to Wibsey Warriors 6-20.

There are no fixtures this Bank Holiday weekend for  our teams.
UNDER 12S EXCEL AT RHINOS CHALLENGE WEEKEND

Rhinos Challenge U12s trophy
Stanley Rangers Under 12s took part in the Rhinos Challenge weekend at Butlins, Skegness last weekend, with over 170 teams from U7s-U15s taking part. In an action-packed two days  the Under 12s played 7 games and only just lost out in the final game. They played with great skill and determination and were complimented not only on their rugby skills and teamwork but also on their sportsmanship and attitude off the field. Well done boys!

MOVING UP THE TABLES

A good weekend for our teams with wins moving them up the tables. The Under 15s are now at the top of Division 4 & Devt. and the Under 14s who beat Normanton Knights 34-24 are now 2nd with equal points with the top team East Leeds. The Under 13s didn't play this weekend and currently lie 4th in Division 5. The Under 12s had a close win over Shaw Cross Sharks 10-8 which moves them to the top of Division 1.
UNDER 11s AT WAKEFIELD TRINITY GAME

Wakefield TrinityWell done to our Under 11s who were part of the Ambassador Clubs playing before last night's match against Widnes Vikings in the Challenge Cup. Along with Shaw Cross Sharks, Hemsworth Dragons, Eastmoor Dragons and Crigglestone All Blacks the team played before the match and then formed part of the half time parade around the pitch, high-fiving the crowd. A brilliant evening and the team looked so smart in this season's kit.

Last weekend our Under 15s played at Sheffield Hawks and had a good result with an attacking game coming away 54-10 winners. The Under 14s had a close game at Doncaster Toll Bar, just losing by a try 38-42 and the Under 13s travelled to Milford but lost out 16-32.
This weekend, the U15s are at home to Featherstone Lions, the Under 14s are also at home to Normanton Knights and the Under 12s are away at Shaw Cross Sharks. The Under 10s are at home to Illingworth on Saturday, kick off 10.30am on the school field. On Sunday, the Under 7s will be playing against Silsden U7s 10am KO.

SUMMER CAMPS AT STANLEY RANGERS

Rugby AM campRugby AM Camps will be holding a two day camp this summer at Stanley Rangers, from Wednesday 31st July to Thursday 1st August 10.00am to 3.00pm.  The cost is £17.50 per day or both days for £30.  As the website says, the camps are run by Rugby AM in partnership with Elite Kids Coaching and there will be two days of rugby league activities and fun with coaching by professionals. The Yorkshire Junior League has moved the divisions within the age groups and our teams are now as follows:  
Competitive: U12s are now Division 1, the U13s are Division 5, the U14s are in Division 3and the U15s have moved to Division 4 & development.
None competitive:  the U7 - 10 are the same, the U11s have moved to the development division. 
 
This means that some of the fixtures will have changed and so please check with the team managers for the coming weekend fixtures. The team pages will be updated as soon as the new fixtures are in place.

At present the fixtures for Saturday 4th May are the Under 10s are away at Thornhill Trojans, the Under 13s are away at Milford Marlins and the Under 11s are at home against York Acorn Gold. On Sunday 5th May, the Under 8s are at home against Beeston Broncos, the Under 7s are away at Boothtown Terriers, the U15s are away at Sheffield Hawks and  the U14s are away at Doncaster Toll Bar.

Congratulations to our Under 12s who played against Eastmoor Dragons U12s in the Wakefield Cup midweek. They won 34-0 and now face Normanton Knights u12s in the Final.

The Under 11s also observed a very well-done minutes silence when they played at Elland.

It is with great sadness that the club has learnt of the passing of former Open Age player Martyn Holland. Martyn was in the middle of whatever the Open Age team on and off the field and although he only played for a few seasons he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. Our thoughts and condolences are with Martyn's family and friends at this time. As a mark of respect, a minute's silence is to be observed in the weekend fixtures.

Stanley Rangers U13sWell done to our Under 13s who fought back in a thrilling finish to beat Milford Marlins U13s 30-26 and move to the top of the table. The Under 12s who also played last weekend had a closely fought match against Heworth, coming out with a 12-all draw. The Under 15s had a comprehensive win 50-6 over the Sheffield Hawks.
There are no fixtures over the Easter weekend, with matches resuming on the 27th April.

Our teams are settled in to their new season and progressing well. The Under 14s beat Odsal Sedbergh 38-22, moving them into fourth place in the Division 3 table, the Under 13s had a tough fixture at Sharlston Rovers losing out 38-22 but keeping their 2nd place in the table and the Under 12s beat a battling Birstall Victoria 42-6 moving into 2nd place just below Stanningley. Our other teams from the Under 11s to the Under 7s are training and playing well with enthusiasm and energy. Well done!

Yorkshire Junior LeagueGood results at the weekend have seen our teams moving up their divisions. The Under 15s beat Wetherby Bulldogs U15s 18-0, the Under 14s ran out 34-10 winners over Farnley Falcons U13s , the Under 13s won 38-4 at home against Wibsey U13s and the Under 12s were 30-12 winners over Lock Lane U12s. All the coaches commented on the good performances from their teams and the hard work the players have been putting in.

This weekend's fixtures for Saturday 6th April are: U13s away at Sharlston Rovers; Under away at Birstall Victoria; the Under 11s travel to Sheffield Hawks and the Under 10s are at home to Methley Warriors. On Saturday 30th, the Under 13s are at home to Wibsey Warriors, the Under 12s are at home to Lock Lane, the Under 11s will be playing at home against New Earswick All Blacks and the Under 10s will travel to Crigglestone All Blacks. On Sunday 31st, the Under 15s will be at home to Illingworth, the Under 14s are at home against Farnley Falcons, our Under 8s are at home to Farnley Falcons and the Under 7s will be travelling to Silsden Storm.

The Under 15s contnued their successful season with a big win 54-0 against Fryston Warriors moving our team to the top of the Division Five table. The Under 14s had a tough game in the Continuation Cup against Fryston Warriors Juniors, losing out 12-28; the Under 13s had a good win over Lindley Swifts 44-14 which has moved them up to 4th place in the table and the Under 12s had a tough game against Newsome Panthers Juniors in the Challenge Cup just losing out 10-19.

BAD WEATHER AFFECTS LAST WEEKEND'S FIXTURES

Heavy rain particularly on Saturday affected last weekend's fixtures in many of the amateur matches due to be played. However, apart from the Under 7s and U12s, our teams managed to fulfill their games despite the poor weather conditions. The Under 15s played against East Leeds in the Continuation Cup and lost by the narrowest of margins 12-16; the Under 14s travelled to Upton who they beat 24-10 in a Division Three game; the Under 13s lost to Drighlington 0-18 in the Preliminary Round of the Continuation Cup and the Under 12s fixture at Hunslet Club Parkside was postponed.

The draw has now been made for the Challenge and Continuation Cups for the Yorkshire Junior and Youth teams. The Under 12s will be away at Newsome Panthers on March 23rd in the U12s Challenge Cup; the Under 13s will be playing in the U13s Continuation Cup against Drighlington away on March 16th; the Under 14s will be at home on March 23rd against Fryston Warriors Juniors in the U14s Continuation Cup and the Under 15s will be at home on March 17th against East Leeds in the U15s Continuation Cup. MIXED RESULTS FOR THE JUNIOR TEAMS

Mixed results for our teams this weekend. The Under 15s travelled to Emley and beat their hosts 10-0 and the Under 12s had another good win this time against Shaw Cross Sharks winning 22.4. The Under 14s were beaten 28-7 by Fryston Warriors Juniors and the Under 13s lost out to Ovenden 14-28.

This coming weekend on Saturday16th March, the Under 12s are away at Hunslet Club Parkside, kicking off at 12.30. The Under 10s are away at Keighley Albion Blacks. Then on Sunday 17th the Under 8s begin their season travelling to Leeds to play against Bramley Rugby League U8s, kick off at 10.30am. The Under 9s also have an away fixture at Queensbury and the Under 14s will be at Upton 10.30 kick off.

Stanley Rangers ARLFC Our junior and youth teams kicked off their new seasons at the weekend and had some good results. On Saturday (2nd March) the Under 12s travelled to Heworth and won the game 22-8 and the Under 13s were at home to Lindley Swifts and beat the Huddersfield side 26-10. On Sunday (3rd March) the Under 15s took on Emley Moor U15s at home and lost by 10-34. The Under 14s match against Birstall Victoria was postponed. Our juniors were in action in curtain raisers at Headingley before the Leeds Rhinos v Wakefield Trinity match and had the honour of leading out with the Trinity team before the game. They did a great job of representing Stanley Rangers.

On Satruday 2nd March the Under 13s are at home to Lindley Swifts, kick off 12.30; the Under 12s are away at Heworth, kick off 12.30; the Under 11s are at home to West Leeds Eagles, kicking off at 11.30 and the Under 10s travel to Underbank Rangers, kick off at 10.30am. On Sunday 3rd March the Under 15s began their season with a home game against Emley Moor, kicking off at 11.00 and the Under 14s are at home to Batley Victoria, kick off at 10.3am. Please come along to any of these games and give the teams your support as they begin their new seasons.
